Oil on canvas
framed: 34 x 40 in. ( 86.4 x 101.6 cm )
Painting depicting the World Trade Center Bombing, 1993. The WTC twin towers are painted in white, with a bursting explosion between them, while the remainder of the buildings in the skyline are a silver-grey. The river and sky are both painted a brilliant blue.
The idea behind accepting this painting into the Society had to do with its role as a "disaster" painting. With the subsequent events of 9/11/01, of course, this role was emphasized.
