Description:
Brass struck medal with obverse showing full-length figure of Admiral Vernon facing right, holding sword and baton, cannon at right and ship at left; legend within line border: "THE. BRITISH. GLORY. REVIVD BY ADMIRAL VERNON." Reverse shows a group of sailing ships surrounded by legend within line border: "HE TOOK PORTO BELLO WITH SIX SHIPS ONLY"; inscription in exergue: "NOV. 22 1739."

The Chinese Boxer Rebellion was crushed by the Peking Relief Expedition, an international force which included Japan, Great Britain and the U.S. This medal, showing the Imperial Chinese five-toed dragon, was authorized in 1905 and designed by Francis D. Millet.
