Brass struck medal with obverse showing full-length figure of Vernon facing right, with sword in right hand and baton in left; cannon at right, anchor at left; surrounding legend: "THE . BRITISH . GLORY . REVIV . D . BY . ADM . L . VERNON." Reverse depicts group of sailing ship with legend within line border: "HE . TOOK . PORTO . BELLO . WITH . SIX . SHIPS . ONLY"; in exergue: "NOV . 22 . 1739."
