The New-York Historical Society Education Division provides dynamic programming and curriculum resources for students and teachers in New York and beyond. Historical study sparks curiosity and creativity, promotes cultural understanding, and fosters an empowered citizenry to strengthen our democracy. Our staff of passionate professionals draws on our world-renowned collections to engage learners of all ages in the study of our collective past.

Literary Manhattan
Explore the literary history of New York City through walking tours, many of which were developed by participants in the Scholars Program for Teens. These unique itineraries explore the buildings and streets of Manhattan through the many writers who have lived and worked here.

Time-Lapse Urban Photography
Inspired by artist Camilo José Vergara’s time-lapse photography, Teen Scholars shot before-and-after images to preserve history in their own terms and produced a documentary of their photographs and related research.
